Mechanical Construction Estimator - Chandler, AZ
This role is responsible for the development of estimates through unitized pricing and contract cost estimating.
You must be able to coordinate full estimating take-offs, services on large, complex projects. Applicants must have experience with conceptual estimates, dealing with mechanical/general contracting projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Knowledge of mechanical, unit pricing, and estimate process and applications required
Preparation of Process estimates.
Prepare quantity takeoffs
Actively participates in the internal estimate review process; assists with final assembly of estimate, ensuring the accuracy of cost estimates
Support estimate validation and work delegated by senior estimating staff on project estimates and bids.
Review project plans and coordinates with the team to confirm complete scope.
Support estimating organization in database development and benchmarking, work with corporate stakeholders to gather data relevant to estimating.
Actively participates in budget management throughout design phase
Develops and documents logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities and applies these assumptions to takeoff tasks
Conducts reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of vale alternative opportunities
Review and advise operations of constructability issues in preparing estimates
Must have knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction costs.
Experience in large construction projects is required
5+ years of relevant commercial, mechanical estimating, or process estimator experience
Conceptual Construction Estimating experience
Highly skilled capabilities in Excel
Timberline, On-screen, Takeoff, and other estimating software.
Preferred experience: Knowledge of Estimating VHC systems
Ability to prepare conceptual budgets based on minimal information and specification
Ability to professionally communicate project needs to assigned staff in a face-paced environment
Analyzes a project from the perspective of site logistics planning, determination of general requirements and general conditions
Up-to-date awareness and understanding of best practices and regulatory issues that have impact on the construction industry
Strong math and analytical skills
Required education: Bachelor's
